Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update For Residents March 30, 2021

There are currently an estimated 309 active cases in our City, up 34 from our call 8 days ago. Over the last 7 days we are averaging 25 new cases per day. 259 people are currently hospitalized with COVID in Westchester County. After plateauing for a period of time we are now seeing new cases increasing once again in White Plains and statewide. Whether that increase becomes a spike depends on all of us. It is vital that everyone continues to wear their masks and continues the common sense protocols we have all become accustomed to in order to give the vaccine time to get ahead of the virus. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky has stated “I’m asking you to just hold on a little longer, to get vaccinated when you can, so that all of those people that we all love will still be here when this pandemic ends”.

As of today, New Yorkers age 30 and up are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and can schedule their appointments. Starting April 6, New Yorkers age 16 and up will be eligible. All three of the vaccines authorized in the US have been proven safe and effective. There are a number of ways to get an appointment. Check the State website, ny.gov/GetVaccinated for appointment at state–run vaccination sites. Check the site regularly as new appointments become available throughout the day. Westchester County is running a vaccine clinic at Westchester Community College go to health.Westchestergov.com, to check availability and schedule an appointment. Check the County website for local pharmacies that have received doses of the vaccine and call the pharmacy directly for an appointment. Finally, We will have a modified garbage collection schedule in place this week due to Good Friday. If you live on a Monday/Thursday garbage collection route, your trash will be picked up tomorrow. If you live on a Tuesday/Friday collection route, your trash will be picked up on Thursday. There will be no trash collection Friday and there will be NO paper recycling this week. Paper recycling will resume on Wednesday, April 7th.
