Pentegra Retirement Services’ Employees Volunteer Doing Local Community Work

Staff worked with the Center for the Urban River at Beczak Marsh

On April 14, employees from Pentegra Retirement Services, including CEO John Pinto, volunteered with the Center for the Urban River at Beczak in Yonkers, to help clean up the marsh, removing winter debris and invasive vines; assist with repair of the erosion wall and marsh fencing; and prepare the marsh for the summer months. Employees also worked to clean up the Center’s garden.

Launched June 2013, the Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB) is an alliance of Sarah Lawrence College and the Hudson River Valley Environmental Education Institute. The mission of CURB is to advance environmental knowledge and stewardship by providing high quality K-12 environmental education for the local community, establishing a regional hub for research and monitoring focused on Hudson River estuary and urban watershed issues, and serving as a welcoming open community space for a variety of civic and cultural activities. The Center is located on the banks of the Hudson River at Habirshaw Park.
