‘The Photographer’s Journey’ Exhibit at ArtsWestchester in White Plains to Honor the Memory of Larry Salley

ArtsWestchester and the African American Men of Westchester to host opening reception; proceeds will go towards new photography award

WHEN: Thursday, February 23 – 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

WHERE: ArtsWestchester Gallery, 31 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains

In honor of the memory of Westchester County’s former Commissioner of Transportation, Lawrence (Larry) Salley, ArtsWestchester and the African American Men of Westchester will host an opening reception for The Photographer’s Journey: A Tribute to Larry Salley, an exhibition of Salley’s photographic work. Salley, who passed away in July 2016, was involved in various county initiatives and organizations. He had a deep love for photography and was an avid lover of jazz. His photographic oeuvre will be on display, ranging from exotic landscapes, portraiture, floral abstractions, wildlife, and musical performances, including colorful documentations of local Jazz and blues musicians.

Tickets for the opening reception are $50 per person. Opening reception attendees will be entered in a raffle to win one of Salley’s photographs. Individual prints from the exhibition will be for sale, with proceeds to go towards a new annual photography award created in Larry Salley’s name. The award will be presented during ArtsWestchester’s annual Arts Award Luncheon. The Photographer’s Journey will be on display at ArtsWestchester through March 17, 2017.
