Public Meetings to Discuss Bee-Line Bus Route Recommendations

The county is looking into making the routes more efficient and more convenient.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Two public meetings will be held next week so residents and bus riders can learn more about the findings and proposed recommendations of a study of Bee-Line Routes 7 and 13.

The meeting for Route 13 will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. October 25 at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Avenue, White Plains.

For Route 7 , the meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mount Vernon City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Routes 7 and 13 are two critical east/west routes in the Bee-Line system, according to officials.

The Westchester County Department of Public Works & Transportation is reviewing strategies for achieving efficiencies in order to reduce running times and make the routes more convenient and appealing to riders. The routes operate in the densest areas of the county and serve residential developments as well as major employment and commercial centers. Both routes are among the top 10 busiest Bee-Line routes, with a total combined weekday ridership of approximately 11,000 passengers, according to a spokesman.

The public meetings are intended to give the public an overview of the routes as they currently operate, and to discuss the study conclusions, including strategies that could be implemented to improve service, such as opportunities for bus stop consolidation, addressing traffic bottlenecks, considering different patterns of service and transit signal priority. The meetings will consist of a presentation and opportunity for questions and comments from the public.
