Reading Event Brings NYPA Employees to Mamaroneck Avenue School

New York Power Authority employees drop into classrooms to inspire children through national shared reading experience

Seven New York Power Authority (NYPA) staffers read to children at the Mamaroneck Avenue School in White Plains on Oct. 27 as part of a shared reading experience across the country in which adults engaged children in a light-hearted book entitled “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich.”

This was the fourth year that NYPA employees have participated in “Read for the Record,” a national campaign of an early education organization called Jumpstart, dedicated to helping children in under-resourced communities develop language and literacy skills. NYPA participated through the White Plains Youth Bureau.
