State Police: Hartsdale Man, 44, Illegally Collected Unemployment Benefits

He is alleged to have collected the money between June and October of 2011.

Nathaniel L. Fite, 44, of Hartsdale was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge Offering a False Instrument for Filing in connection with his alleged illegal collection of more than $5,400 in unemployment benefits.

He is alleged to have collected the money between June and October of 2011, filing false documents while he was employed.

The joint investigation in the alleged incident was conducted by the state Department of Labor and state police.

On January 20, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Hawthorne barracks charged Nathaniel L. Fite, 44 years old, of Hartsdale, New York, with Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

Fite was arrested following an investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Police. Fite is accused of unlawfully collecting over $5,400 in unemployment benefits between June of 2011 and October of 2011. False business records were generated by him when he certified weekly that he was unemployed when in fact he was gainfully employed.

Fite was issued an Appearance Ticket ordering him to appear before the City of White Plains Court on January 23, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
