Stormy Start, Sunny Later, Much Colder: White Plains' Weekend Weather

Not the greatest weekend forecast, that's for certain—what's with the arctic front? Well, at least it’s not snow.

We’ll see rain chances both Friday and Saturday, and the good news is it’s dry on Sunday—but—it’s also a lot colder on Sunday and Monday.

"The first half of Saturday looks very nice, with a good deal of sunshine," says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "But an arctic front moves toward our area during the afternoon, and that will bring with it the threat of showers and thunderstorms for the 2nd half of the day.

Sunday evening, temps could dip close to 40 degrees for parts of the Hudson Valley.

The latest National Weather Service forecast for southern Westchester County:

• Today: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Areas of fog after 3pm. High in the mid-60s. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Tonight: A chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Areas of fog before midnight. Otherwise, cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low in the low- to mid-50s. West wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Saturday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 70. West wind 5 to 13 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a chance of showers between 9pm and 3am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low in the upper-40s. West wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 21 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low in the low-40s.
