Substance Abuse Treatment Will Be Subject of 2016 Kurz Conference in White Plains
The conference is open to health-care and other professionals as well as the community.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The 24h Annual Edythe Kurz Conference will deal with substance abuse.
The Westchester Jewish Community Services will present the conference Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Westchester County Center.
The keynote will be “Substance Abuse Treatment: Widening the Circle,” by Dr. Jeff Foote, a clinical research scientist recognized for his work on motivational treatment approaches, according to organizers.

He was the psychologist for the New York Mets and the deputy director of the Division of Alcohol Treatment and Research at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
Other topics will be “Pathways to Change: Loved Ones Helping Substance Abusers,” “Butt Out: An Introduction to Smoking Cessation” and “Effects of Cannabis on the Developing Brain.”

The conference is open to healthcare and other professionals as well as community members.
This year for the first time social workers can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by attending the keynote speech and at least one workshop. The fee for the conference is $60.
