SWBOCES Open House to Highlight Vocational Education Opportunities for Students

The Career Services Center in Valhalla will host its annual fall Open House for parents of students attending programs at the Center.

An Oct. 8 Open House at the SWBOCES Center for Career Services in Valhalla is intended to highlight the many career and technical education opportunities available for high school students looking to become college and career ready.

The event, to take place between 6 and 8:30 p.m., is an opportunity for the families of current students to meet teachers and to learn more about the programs they’ve enrolled in, as well as getting information on the classroom syllabus, requirements and more.

Families of high school students not currently enrolled in a BOCES program as well as staff from schools throughout southern Westchester are encouraged to attend.

Refreshments and a light buffet, prepared by students in the BOCES Culinary Arts Program, will be available in the lobby of Building D from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Parents are free to meet with teachers between 6:45 and 8:30 p.m.

Some of the programs available to high school students include automotive technology, certified nurse assistant, collision technology, commercial art, computer information systems, construction/plumbing, electrical construction, fashion design, graphic and interior design, pre-engineering, security, law and policy, TV video production and more.
