Three New Physicians Join White Plains Hospital
Drs. Ari L. Bunim, Stephanie Kydd Dondero and Mazen Fouany joined White Plains Hospital Physician Associates

White Plains Hospital is pleased to welcome Ari L. Bunim, MD, Stephanie Kydd Dondero, DO, and Mazen Fouany, MD, to its Physician Associates Division.
Dr. Bunim, the former Clinical Director of Hepatology at New York-Presbyterian/Queens, and previous Scarsdale Medical Group Hospitalist at White Plains Hospital, will be based in the New Rochelle office.
Dr. Bunim treats a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver disorders including GERD, GI bleeding, abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis, fatty liver, and liver lesions. He received his Medical Degree from New York University Medical School, and completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed Fellowships in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

In addition to being the Clinical Director of Hepatology at New York-Presbyterian/Queens, he also previously served as faculty in the Gastrointestinal Division, teaching both residents and fellows. Dr. Bunim is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. In 2018, he received the Hepatitis C Clinical Exchange Network Champion Award from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Dr. Bunim was named among the Top 15 Doctors for state-of-the-art medical care by It’s Queens Magazine in 2015.
Board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Bunim serves as a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American College of Gastroenterology and the Empire Liver Foundation. His interests include viral hepatology, fatty liver disease, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. He has been involved in clinical trials and presents his research at national meetings. Dr. Dondero is a board-certified rheumatologist, who is experienced in the treatment of a wide variety of rheumatic autoimmune diseases, ranging from rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus and dermatomyositis, to gout and osteoarthritis.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Cornell University, Dr. Dondero went on to obtain a Master of Biomedical Science, followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, where she continued on as a teaching attending board certified Hospitalist. After an additional year as a teaching attending at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, she pursued her passion to become a Rheumatologist at Larkin Hospital in Miami, Florida, where she was Chief Fellow.
Board certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Dondero has written articles and presented at numerous conferences on topics including psoriatic arthritis, consequences of refusing the flu vaccine, and the etiology of upper gastrointestinal and hepatocellular carcinoma in a young adult. Dr. Fouany, the former Medical Director OB/GYN of the Pennsylvania-based UPMC Cole health system, brings administrative, research and academic experience to the practice.
Dr. Fouany is an experienced, board-certified OB/GYN who specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology, as well as complex gynecological problems and the treatment of high-risk pregnancy. An expert in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, his areas of clinical focus include endometriosis, preeclampsia, infertility, assisted reproductive medicine and technology, ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, and uterine fibroids.
Dr. Fouany earned his undergraduate degree from Lebanese American University in Beirut, Lebanon and received his Medical Degree with Distinction from the University of Balamand School Of Medicine in Beirut. He then went on to complete an Internship in General Surgery from St. George’s University Hospital in Beirut. After relocating to the US, he completed an Internship and Residency in OB/GYN at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington DC.
While at UPCM Cole, Dr. Fouany’s practice cared for 4,000 patients annually. He served in administrative positions overseeing virtual service lines for OB/GYN and pediatrics, and was responsible for the establishment of quality standards for UPCM Cole. He is a two-time recipient of both the Excellence Award and Honor Your Caregiver Award and also served as an Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at Lock Haven University. Dr. Fouany is the author of numerous published research papers and presentations on high-risk pregnancies.
