United Way to Honor Kevin J. Plunkett at Day of Golf Event

Fundraiser for United Way to be held at Scarsdale Golf Club on Sept. 14

White Plains, N.Y. (August 2020) – Kevin J. Plunkett, Esq., Director of Strategic Initiatives at Simone Development Companies and Former Westchester Deputy County Executive, will be this year’s honoree at the United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s Day of Golf, presented by PepsiCo. The event will be held September 14 at the Scarsdale Golf Club.

Located 40 minutes from New York City, the Scarsdale Golf Club’s A.W. Tillinghast-designed golf course offers a challenging test of golf for its players.

The Day of Golf will include a round of golf with contests, BBQ lunch on the course, a cigar rolling station, and a grab and go gourmet dinner. Sponsorship opportunities and journal ad spaces are available.

Kevin J. Plunkett, Esq. began his law career in 1975 as an ADA for Westchester County. He later joined the law firm of Plunkett & Jaffe, where he was a member of the firm for more than 20 years. A partner in the law firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood from 2000 to 2008, he later became a partner at DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise and Wiederkehr.

In 2009, Plunkett was asked to become the Deputy County Executive for Westchester County by Robert Astorino, the then just-elected County Executive. Starting in January 2010 he was responsible for more than 4,000 employees, a budget of $1.85 billion, and oversight of the Westchester County’s entire operations. Since 2017, he has served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Simone Development.

“In addition to playing a seminal and influential role in advocating for the entire nonprofit community for decades, Kevin has been a long-standing supporter of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam… especially our 211 Helpline,” says United Way President and CEO, Tom Gabriel. “For all of these reasons, we’re privileged to honor him at our Day of Golf event.”

Plunkett has also served on the boards of numerous not-for-profit and educational institutions including ArtsWestchester, Westchester ARC Foundation and Iona College.

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Plunkett earned his law degree at Stetson University College of Law and is a lifelong resident of Tarrytown. Kevin and his wife Rosemary are the proud parents of 5 children and grandparents of 7.
