United Way Seeking Applications for COVID-19 Relief Grants

United Way of Westchester and Putnam has administered over $1.7 million in grants to local nonprofits since the start of the pandemic.

White Plains, NY – April 20, 2021 – The United Way of Westchester and Putnam announced that in its continued response to the hardships created by COVID-19, it is accepting grant proposals from nonprofits in Westchester and Putnam counties. The organization will be awarding grants up to $5,000 to nonprofits directly helping underprivileged or ALICE populations, those who are employed but are living paycheck-to-paycheck, who are displaced or actively impacted COVID-19.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, United Way of Westchester and Putnam has administered over $1.7 million in grants to local nonprofits.

“The health and economic crisis created by the COVID 19 pandemic disproportionately affected the marginalized members of our society. The nonprofit community has been working tirelessly to respond to community needs and our United Way is committed to supporting their efforts,” said United Way of Westchester and Putnam CEO Tom Gabriel.

The United Way of Westchester and Putnam Community Disaster Recovery Fund, a collection of different funds administered by United Way of Westchester and Putnam, provides direct disaster recovery assistance to local nonprofits affected by colossal natural and human-made disasters.

The grant application is online at uwwp.org/covid-19-response-grant. The proposal submission deadline is 4 p.m. on Monday, May 24th. United Way of Westchester and Putnam will disperse the grants in June 2021.
