United Way Seeking Survey Respondents on COVID Economic Impact

United Ways across the state have created this survey to gauge how the crisis has affected New York households.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — October 14, 2020 – Even before COVID-19 struck, many families in the Hudson Valley and New York State were living on the economic edge. Now, the United Way of Westchester and Putnam is asking residents to complete a survey so it can learn more about the impact of COVID-19 on our communities.

United Ways across the state have created this survey to gauge how the crisis has affected New York households.

“COVID has been impacting lives for six months, with no clear end in sight. We are urging as many people as possible to take this 10-minute survey to help us to better understand the financial impact COVID-19 has and on families across the Hudson Valley, said Tom Gabriel, President and CEO of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam. “The results of this survey will help United Ways and organizations across the state better respond to the needs of New York citizens.”

Responses to the survey are confidential and it is also available in Spanish. The deadline to complete the survey is October 27th. You can find the survey here or visit www.uwwp.org for more information.

Prior to this pandemic, 45% of New York households were considered ALICE, working jobs that keep the state’s economy humming — many on the front line as essential workers. The COVID-19 health and economic crisis has exaggerated what was already a difficult situation. ALICE® stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. ALICE households earn more than the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), but less than they need to afford a basic survival budget.

The United Way of Westchester Putnam is asking all families to complete the survey, not just those who are struggling financially.
