United Way Swing Into Spring Gala

Honoring Tony West, J. Kevin McCarthy, Dr. Belinda Miles

Rye Brook, N.Y, (March 3, 2016) – Join United Way of Westchester and Putnam for a fabulous swing party on March 31 at Doral Arrowwood, to benefit local families in poverty, literacy improvement, and the 2-1-1 crisis helpline. The United Way Swing into Spring Gala offers fine cocktails and dinner, a silent auction of unique treasures, music and dancing to the James Daniel Orchestra and live performances by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio professionals. The Gala Committee is Co-Chaired by Barbara and H. Rodgin Cohen (Irvington), Drs. Nan and Scott Hayworth (Mount Kisco), and Meyer G. Koplow (New Rochelle).

United Way is proud to recognize three distinguished honorees during the evening’s celebration of spring. Since November 2014, Tony West, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary PepsiCo (Purchase), has been responsible for the company’s worldwide legal, government affairs and public policy organizations, overseeing the company’s global compliance function and serving as President of the PepsiCo Foundation. Previously, Tony served as the Associate Attorney General of the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice’s third-ranking official.

J. Kevin McCarthy (Larchmont), Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel BNY Mellon, will also be honored during the evening. A member of the company’s Executive Committee, Kevin McCarthy heads BNY Mellon’s Legal Department, plus has overall responsibility for Government Affairs, the Corporate Secretarial function and Global Corporate Security. Kevin, who was appointed to his current position in April 2014, joined BNY Mellon in 2010 as Deputy General Counsel. Kevin also serves on the boards of the Legal Aid Society and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.

In January 2015, Dr. Belinda S. Miles (New Rochelle), was appointed President of Westchester Community College, the county’s largest college, which offers more than sixty transfer and workforce programs, including the largest division of continuing education in the State University of New York system. Since her arrival, Dr. Miles has led the college to its new status as an Achieving the Dream member institution and expanded K-12 partnerships in order to increase college readiness.
