Valhalla Schools to Hold $6.6M Bond Referendum Thursday

Improvements include renovating the middle/high school auditorium and science labs.

VALHALLA, NY — Voters in the Valhalla Union Free School District will be going to the polls Thursday, October 6 to approve a $6.6 million capital bond referendum for district-wide improvements.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Castle Community Center, Virginia Road School and Kensico School.

According to information from the school district, the total cost of the capital plan in $9.9 million. The district will use $3.3 million from its capital reserve funds, bringing the cost of the actual bond down to $6.6 million.

Among the proposed construction projects are renovations of the middle/high school science labs and auditorium, creating versatile playing surfaces for the athletic facilities and updating the Virginia Road School playground.

The estimated cost for a home assessed at $500,000 is $122.43 a year for the 15-year life of the bond, the district said.
