Valhalla Voters OK $9.9M Bond Referendum
$6.6 million will be borrowed for the construction projects.
VALHALLA, NY — Voters in the Valhalla Union Free School District passed a $9.9 million capital bond referendum Thursday.
There 373 votes in favor of the bond and 192 who voted against it, according to information on the district’s website.
Board President Robert Ierace said the board wanted to thank the community for its support.

“When you put all of the projects together, this is about the community supporting the district’s goals of 21st century learning, whole child education and placing children first,” he said in a prepared statement.
Of the $9.9 million, $6.6 will be borrowed, with the remaining $3.3 million coming from the district’s capital reserve fund.

Among the proposed construction projects are renovations of the middle/high school science labs and auditorium, creating versatile playing surfaces for the athletic facilities and updating the Virginia Road School playground.
The district estimated the cost for a home assessed at $500,000 to be $122.43 a year for the 15-year life of the bond.
