Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: County Parks; Walkway

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities somewhere in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week Patch will be highlighting a volunteer opportunity — or two — in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

And if you are in an organization that has some need for volunteers, be sure to let us know by emailing michael.woyton@patch.com.

This week we are putting the spotlight on a couple of opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

The Westchester Parks Foundation is asking for volunteers to help get the county parks in shape for the next season. The largest one-day volunteer program falls around Earth Day every year. This year it will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25.

Volunteers will paint, rake, prepare and plant flower beds, clear trails and shorelines, restore wildlife habitats and remove invasive vines from trees.
