Weekend Weather for Christmas, Chanukah in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The three-day holiday weekend is looking pretty good according to forecasts. Even the possibility of precipitation on Saturday isn't too threatening for the Hudson Valley.

“Last minute holiday travelers hitting the road on the morning of Christmas Eve could find some slick roads in the interior of New York state and northeast Pennsylvania,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.

And the Catskills could see an inch or so of snow.

"Then we look to Christmas Day, and it’s looking fantastic," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Lots of sunshine… and temperatures near or just above 40° for a high."

Monday night is the next chance for precipitation in the area, meteorologists say.

Here's the weekend forecast from the National Weather Service for southern Westchester County:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 47. West wind 7 to 9 mph.
• Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 34. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Saturday: Rain, mainly between 8am and 4pm. High near 43. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
• Christmas Day: Sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.
• Monday: A 30 percent chance of light rain or sprinkles after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 43.
• Monday Night: A chance of rain before 1am, then a chance of rain or sprinkles after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
