Westchester Adds Miniature Golf To Recreation Offerings
The county executive also updated the numbers of coronavirus cases.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — Another recreation opportunity is opening up in Westchester County. Executive George Latimer said Thursday at his daily news conference that miniature golf courses at Saxon Woods and Tibbetts Brook Park opened Thursday.
The miniature golf course at Playland will be open Saturday and Sunday. It will be expanded to more days during the week later. The midway and amusement park remain closed.
Social distancing and the wearing of face coverings will be required at miniature golf courses.

Latimer said that all county buildings will close Friday in respect to the celebration of Juneteenth. He said it's being done with executive authority.
With the announcement by Gov. Andrew Cuomo that he would suspend his daily briefings after Friday, Latimer said he will stop his daily briefings when the county enters Phase 3 of reopening.

He said, unless circumstances change, the last daily update will be Monday, July 6.
"We will try to get us back to normal" in the functioning of the county, Latimer said.
Coronavirus Update
Latimer said that 22 percent of the county's population has been tested for the new coronavirus. That is 223,273 people. There were 24 more people testing positive today than Wednesday.
The total to date of confirmed positive cases is 34,409, he said.
Fatality numbers continue to be low, Latimer said. There were three additional deaths overnight. The total is more than 1,400.
As of Thursday, there are 642 active cases of the virus, down from Wednesday's 694.
Latimer said the numbers continue to show that there is no reason to stop the behaviors that brought the county to where it is now.
Wearing a mask is not a political statement, he said. It is a matter of public health concern.
