Westchester Correction Officer Injured By 2 Inmates

Officials said it was a seemingly unprovoked attack.

VALHALLA, NY — Two Westchester County inmates attacked and seriously injured a county correction officer Friday, April 27. At 9:45 p.m., officials said, the officer sustained serious injuries including head trauma and a broken nose as the result of a seemingly unprovoked attack by two male adult inmates.

The officer was taken to the Westchester Medical Center and was met there by his wife, the Commissioner of Correction, many fellow officers and union representatives, according to a county spokesperson.

Commissioner of Correction Joseph K. Spano said he was pleased to report that the officer has been released from the hospital and is at home recovering.
