Westchester County Seeking Lifeguard Applications
The calendar may say winter, but it's time to start thinking about being a summer lifeguard.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — It may be well below freezing outside right now, but it's time to start thinking about summer.
And that is just what Westchester County is doing. They are now accepting applications for lifeguards to work at its pools and beaches this summer.
The county considers the 2020 beach and pool season to be a success, in spite of the coronavirus pandemic.

County Executive George Latimer is encouraging anyone interested in summer employment to help make another great season.
"Our pools and beaches provide our residents with a place to relax and cool off in the summer," he said. "We could not do this without the dedication of our lifeguards."

Kathy O'Connor, the commissioner of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, said the lifeguards were vital to ensuring the safety of the county's patrons.
"Last year they did an outstanding job with the increased safety measures, and they ensured we could keep our pools and beaches open throughout the summer," she said.
The parks department will continue to monitor the ongoing pandemic and expects to have similar safety measures in place in the 2021 pool season, including increased sanitization, limited capacity and time ticketing for county residents.
Those applying must be able to work at varied locations including Saxon Woods Pool in White Plains, Sprain Ridge Pool and The Brook at Tibbetts in Yonkers and Willson's Waves Pool in Mount Vernon, as well as Croton Point Park Beach in Croton-on-Hudson and Playland Beach in Rye if waterfront certified.
