Westchester County's 9/11 Remembrance Set for Kensico Dam Sunday

The ceremony will take place at The Rising.

VALHALLA, NY — The Kensico Dam in Valhalla will be the site of Westchester County’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to honor those whose lives were lost or changed by the attacks of September 11, 2001.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 11 at “The Rising” at Kenisco Dam.

County Executive Robert P. Astorino said the county comes together each year to remember and honor Westchester residents who lost their lives on that day.

“This year, on the 15th anniversary, we are reminded that although time can heal, we can never forget that fateful day,” he said.

The program will feature live orchestral and vocal performances, as well as the reading of the names of 123 Westchester residents lost in the attacks of September 11, 2001, according to organizers.

The twilight ceremony will follow the “9/11 Day: Serve + Remember” volunteer opportunities taking place in the county from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11.

The service projects will begin on Friday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the County Center in White Plains.
