Westchester Democratic Chairman Drops Out Of Re-Election Race
Reginald A. LaFayette will stay Democratic commissioner for the county board of elections.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — The county Board of Elections Democratic commissioner dropped out of the race to be re-elected Westchester County Democratic chairman. In a letter sent to the Westchester County Democratic Committee, Reginald A. LaFayette said, "after much soul-searching," he would be removing his name from consideration as chairman.
LaFayette has held the position since 2004, Black Westchester reported.
He said he would stay as Democratic elections commissioner until the end of 2022.

Leaders of the county Democratic Party will choose a new chair Sept. 17, the Journal News said.
LaFayette is also the head of the Mount Vernon Democratic Committee.
