Westchester Economic Team Has Resources To Help Businesses
The number of active cases of the new coronavirus continues to decrease, the county executive said.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — The Westchester County Department of Economic Development Crisis Advisory team has identified a series of resources to help business owners remain viable during and after Covid-19.
During his daily news conference Friday, County Executive George Latimer said, on the Economic Development Catalyst website, there is a new page called Events, on which virtual events and recordings of events are posted, on the topics that the recent Business Survey identified as most needed by the business community.
Some of these events are hosted by the county, and some are hosted by other business organizations within Westchester.

Latimer also announced receiving a donation of 50,000 protective masks for Westchester County’s front-line workers, from the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association. The donation of personal protective equipment will go a long way in assisting the county’s doctors, nurses and first responders in their continuous fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The 50,000 masks that are being donated are part of a larger donation by the association to 12 different counties in New York State.
As of Friday, there were 29,232 confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus in Westchester County. Latimer said 22,476 of those cases have resolved, meaning the person is no longer infected with the virus.
That leaves 6,756 active cases of the virus.
"That's a lot of cases, but a month ago there were 8,000," Latimer said, adding that further back than that there were 10,000 to 11,000 actives cases.
Hospitalizations remain flat, he said, but deaths have increased to 1,049 Westchester residents since March 1 when the first cases were identified.
