WHITE PLAINS, NY — When the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards are handed out, Westchester County will be well represented.

Of the productions filmed in the county, there were seven award nominations in top categories, according to a spokesperson.

County Executive George Latimer said the nominations highlight the diverse locations and film-friendly climate of Westchester.

"The recognition signals the quality of production that's taking place in Westchester," he said, "and represents just a small slice of the success we have had with the film and television industry."

Going forward, Latimer said, the county will be eager to work with location scouts and managers, producers, directors and designers to help plan successful and safe productions.

Among the shows receiving nominations is "The Flight Attendant," the HBO Max comedy/mystery series. It features actress Kaley Cuoco as a flight attendant who wakes up in a hotel room next to a man who has been murdered, and she has no memory of what happened.

Cuoco and the ensemble cast received Golden Globe and SAG nominations for acting. The show itself was nominated in the best series, musical or comedy category for a Golden Globe.

Several scenes were filmed in Westchester, including at the Motel 6 in Elmsford, The Galleria in White Plains and a private home on Buckout Road in West Harrison.

Al Pacino, who starred in the Amazon Prime drama "Hunters," was nominated for a best actor Golden Globe.

The show, which follows a band of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City, was filmed at Untermeyer Gardens in Yonkers and in the village of Ossining, which stood in for Paraguay in the fifth episode's opening scene.

Ramy Youssef, who stars in Hulu's "Ramy," was nominated for both a SAG and a Golden Globe award for male actor in a comedy series and best actor in a TV series, comedy or musical, respectively. Scenes in the show were filmed at the Westchester County Correctional Facility.

Nominees with ties to the county received both Golden Globe and SAG nominations, including Scarsdale native Aaron Sorkin, for "Trial of the Chicago 7," and Jason Bateman, who was born in Rye. He was nominated for both SAG and Golden Globe awards for best actor and as part of the ensemble for a SAG award for the Netflix drama "Ozark."

Latimer said it's a joy to see the county's landscapes in award-winning productions, as well as knowing the filming brings in economic benefits.

"The nominations represent just a small slice of the success we have had with the film and television industry," he said, "which generated $45 million in economic impact in 2019.

"Film is an important economic driver in Westchester, and it will be important to our recovery in 2021," Latimer said.

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards will be presented Feb. 28. The Screen Actors Guild Awards will be handed out April 4.
