Westchester, Hotels Team Up To House Health Care Workers
The county executive said keeping our health care workers safe keeps all county residents safe.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — As health care workers in Westchester — and all over the world — put their lives on the line to treat patients during the new coronavirus pandemic, Westchester County is trying to do all that it can to support them. County Executive George Latimer said the entire county government is working to combat the pandemic and supporting our heroic health care workers is one way we can do that.
"Keeping our health care workers safe keeps all county residents safe," he said. "I am proud of these efforts by the Westchester County Office of Tourism & Film and the Westchester Hotel Association to support those on the front lines.”
The two organizations teamed up to match guest room donations to local hospitals, for use by critical staff they designate. That can allow those workers to lessen their commutes between long shifts and to reduce possible exposure for their families.

Meade said the hotels are normally competitors.
"But the pandemic is prompting us to come together as one team to defeat a common enemy, COVID-19," he said. "With this program, we serve our community together and help each other through this tough time.”
Westchester County municipalities are also part of the effort, such as White Plains’ donation of free parking at City Hall, which just across the street from the Cambria Hotel, for the health care workers temporarily lodging there.
