WHITE PLAINS, NY — A Westchester resident saw Christmas come early while he was playing a slot machine at Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts in Yonkers.

White Plains resident James S. recently hit the $585,532.38 jackpot with a $20 bet on the IGT Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars slot machine.

James S. did not authorize the release of his full name, according to a spokesman.

He said it took a few lucky pulls — playing the maximum bet of $20 on what he said was his favorite machine — before hitting it big.

A long-time resident of Westchester County, James said he plans to spend some of his winnings on a few extra holiday gifts for his family.

Ed Domingo, senior vice president and CFO of MGM Resorts Northeast Group, congratulated James on his big win.

"Each jackpot winning story is exciting but this one is certainly unique and right before the holidays no less," he said.

Empire City Casino has one of the largest casino floors in the country, according to a spokesman, and is the largest gaming floor in the MGM Resorts portfolio.
