White Plains Voters OK 2019-20 Budget

Voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide on school budgets and board members.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Voters in the White Plains school district approved the $226.5 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 949 to 159.

The budget was 3.66 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 3.44 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Voters were also asked to approve two propositions. The first, which was approved, asked for approval to use up to $6.4 million from the district's Capital Reserve Fund for school improvements. The second, which was also approved, asked for voter approval to establish a capital reserve fund with an ultimate amount of $25 million to be used.

Two candidates were vying for two seats. They were Sheryl Brady and Charlie Norris.
