White Plains Bar Shut Down By State

The state said the new owner lied about having a relationship with a previous owner.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The new owner of the former Black Bear Saloon in White Plains has lost her liquor license because the state said she lied about a relationship with the previous owner. Sara Smith, owner of Stadium/Avenue Social at 166 Mamaroneck Ave., had a child with one of the Black Bear’s owners and the bar’s basement still contained liquor from the previous owner, the State Liquor Authority determined.

Also, Smith had said the bar would operate as a restaurant, though the kitchen was closed and unsanitary, lohud.com said.

For more, including a comment from the authority’s assistant general counsel, read the complete lohud.com article here.
