White Plains Celebrates 'Dads Take Your Child to School' Day

The seventh annual event promotes the importance of fathers and father figures in children's lives.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The White Plains Youth Bureau and the White Plains School District are partnering once again for Dads Take Your Child to School Day.

Organizers said they expect more than 2,000 fathers to participate in the seventh annual event Tuesday, September 20.

The year’s program will include opportunities for dads to meet and talk to teachers and administrators.

The program, which is held at each of the five White Plains elementary schools, as well as Eastview and Highlands middle schools and White Plains High School, emphasizes the importance of fathers and father figures actively participating in their children’s lives.

Mayor Thomas Roach, Youth Bureau Director Frank Williams and Interim Superintendent of Schools Timothy Connors will be at George Washington Elementary School, 100 Orchard St. in White Plains beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
