Submit Volunteer Names & Organizations for Recognition
The City of White Plains will celebrate National Volunteer Month on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. with a tribute to the volunteers in our own community. Volunteer Month is a national celebration held during the month of April each year to draw attention to people and organizations that give their time, their voice, and their service through acts of kindness, making a difference in their communities.

Thousands of White Plains residents have shared their strength and hearts in service to others. Some examples include distributing meals to homebound seniors through Meals-on-Wheels of White Plains, donating and bagging food for families that have been adversely impacted by COVID-19; volunteers serving as COVID Angels, helping to make vaccine appointments for seniors; and volunteers who serve as mentors and tutors for our youth. There are also many clubs, groups and organizations where volunteers contribute to the well-being of our city, such as Grandpas United and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, which have initiated volunteer projects and raised funds for worthwhile causes, and many more.
Mayor Tom Roach said, “We are a healthy community because people see volunteerism as a benefit to our city.”
A virtual celebration will be held to recognize all of our White Plains volunteers on Thursday, April 22nd at 6:30 p.m. In addition, the White Plains government access channels (Optimum channel 75 & Verizon channel 47) will be running a list all volunteers and their organizations as a way to shine a light on their worthy contributions. Help us celebrate and recognize those who volunteer in our community by sending volunteer names and organizations to Laura Montoya, lmontoya@whiteplainsny.gov by no later than Thursday, April 15th.
