White Plains Firehouse Deemed a Hazard
Firefighters from Station House 4 will be temporarily relocated.

Another Westchester County firehouse has been deemed a hazard.
Following in the footsteps of the Yonkers Fire Department, which had one of its buildings condemned, the White Plains Fire Department will temporarily move staff out of Station House 4 due to a seriously leaky roof.
The Journal News reports that a recent study of the South Lexington Avenue building called its condition “deplorable” and the union is hoping the situation gets addressed soon.

“These are things that need to be addressed,” fire union President Joseph Carrier told The Journal News. “Maintenance work on Station 4 is long overdue, and we’re hoping that the city will look at this report and act on its recommendations.”
The Yonkers firehouse on New School Street was closed earlier this month due to cracks and other issues to the building.
