White Plains Man Shot on DeKalb Dies, Police Search for Suspects
White Plains police are asking witnesses to come forward with any information at all on Friday's shooting on Dekalb Avenue.
White Plains police are asking anyone with any of knowledge of Friday’s fatal shooting of a city man on Dekalb Avenue to come forward. Police say they are currently searching for suspects in connection with the incident.
“We are continuing our interviews of potential witnesses and some possible persons of interest,” said Commissioner of Public Safety David Chong. “The detectives are asking for anyone who may have been in the area of Dekalb Avenue, Friday between 4:45 p.m to 5:15 p.m., to please come forward if they may have seen or heard anything suspicious. “Nothing would be considered insignificant and could help us solve this crime.”

According to The Journal News, police responded to a call regarding a car that crashed into a utility pole in front of 44 Dekalb Ave., and found 21-year-old Jonathan Storm Johnson shot in the abdomen. The Journal News also reported that 20 bags of marijuana were found in the car, and that police believe the shooting was drug related. Johnson was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at White Plains Hospital.
Police were searching the crime scene with flashlights Friday evening, and closing off most of Dekalb Avenue to traffic and pedestrians between Livingston and Carhart avenues. See our pictures and videos of the crime scene.
