White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach Elected President of Westchester Municipal Officials Association
Roach succeeds Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin as the President. The group represents the county's 45 cities, towns and villages.

White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach was recently elected President of the Westchester Municipal Officials Association, the group announced.
Roach, a graduate of the State University of New York University at Albany and the State University of New York Buffalo Law School, succeeds Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin as President. The group was established to provide a forum for all of Westchester’s 45 cities, towns and villages to study and discuss issues of mutual concern. It was founded in 1938.
“I have found WMOA to be a valuable forum in which to share ideas and discuss solutions to the many issues that impact municipal governments, regardless of the size of our municipality or where it is located within the County,” said Roach in a statement. “We are united in interest regarding most of the major issues facing our communities. By working together, we strengthen our voice as we address these issues.”

Additionally, he spearheaded clean air restrictions on construction sites, which remain part of the approval process in White Plains and have served as a model for other communities. Roach became Acting Mayor in 2011, was elected Mayor in a special election shortly thereafter, and was re-elected in 2013.
Roach has been a member of the WMOA’s Executive Committee and has served as an officer of the Association for the last four years, most recently as First Vice President.
