White Plains Native To Appear In Performing Arts Center Musical

The performance of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" will be the New York regional premier of the musical.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A White Plains man will be performing in the New York regional premiere of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at the White Plains Performing Arts Center later in December. Chris Guzman will perform the role of Lieutenant Frederic Charlus in the musical written by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz.

Guzman is a senior at New York Universty’s Tisch School of the Arts and is set to graduate in the spring. He is a native of White Plains, who graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School.

He was part of its drama club for eight years, having won two Metro Awards.

Guzman also teaches acting to young people at the New York Performing Arts Center in Harrison.

The White Plains Performing Arts Center was the first stage Guzman appeared on. At the age of 7, he was in a summer camp production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is a retelling of Victor Hugo’s story of love, acceptance and what it means to be a hero, according to a spokeswoman.

The musical begins at the cathedral in 15th-century Paris where Quasimodo, the bell-ringer, is held captive.

The cast also features Matthew Billman (Captain Phoebus de Martin), Bobby Cassell (Quasimodo), David Thomas Cronin (Saint Aphrodisius), Jenna Dallacco (Esmeralda), Jarrad Biron Green (Clopin Trouillefou), Katelyn Lauria (Madam), Dustin Harris Smith (Jehan Frollo), James Conrad Smith (Father Dupin), Cecilia Snow (Florika), and James Zannelli (Dom Claude Frollo).

The musical will be performed from Friday, Dec. 22 through Sunday, Jan. 14. Tickets start at $33. For the complete schedule and ticket prices, go here.
