White Plains OKs $170.1M Budget For 2017-18
Some revenue and spending changed since the proposed budget was unveiled.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — At a recent meeting, the White Plains Common Council approved a budget for 2017-18. The $170.1 million spending package reflected a decrease in estimated sales tax revenue in the amount of $700,000 and mortgage tax revenues of $75,000 from the proposed budget presented in April.
There were also changes made due to the recent settlement of the collective bargaining agreement for the firefighters and the receipt of additional state aid.
The spending package was approved by a 5-2 vote, the White Plains Examiner said.

One of the “nay” votes was from Councilwoman Milagros Lecuona, a Democrat, who is running to unseat Mayor Thomas Roach, also a Democrat.
Lecuona said the budget did not put the community’s needs first.
