White Plains Patch Voters Guide To School District Elections

Don't forget to vote May 21 if you live in the White Plains school district. Here's what you need to know.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — New York residents are asked to vote on their local school district’s budget and board of education May 21. Here are fast facts about the election in White Plains.

Voting information

Polls are open from noon to 9 p.m. at the district's regular voting locations.

Board of Education

Two candidates are vying for two seats. They are Sheryl Brady and Charlie Norris.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $226.5 million
  • Increase over current spending: 3.66 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 3.44 percent

Voters will also be asked to approve two propositions. The first asks for approval to use up to $6.4 million from the district's Capital Reserve Fund for school improvements. This will not result in a tax increase. The second is asking for voter approval to establish a capital reserve fund with an ultimate amount of $25 million to be used. There will be no extra cost to taxpayers.
