White Plains Releases Updated Information On Vaccine Eligibility & How To Schedule An Appointment

Dear White Plains Residents,

Understandably, there have been a lot of questions about COVID-19 vaccine eligibility and how to schedule an appointment to get the vaccine. Effective today, January 12th, NYS has expanded vaccine eligibility to include anyone 65 or older.

ALL VACCINATIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Eligible groups include doctors, nurses and health care workers, people age 65 and over, first responders, teachers, public transit workers, grocery store workers and public safety workers. Residents and staff at nursing homes and other long-term care facilities will continue to be vaccinated through a federal program, which the state is providing resources to accelerate.

• People age 65 and over will primarily be vaccinated at pharmacies and other sites that are part of the “retail network.” Use the State's online tool to find a location. The COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline is open 7AM - 10PM, 7 days a week, for scheduling vaccination appointments for eligible New Yorkers: 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).

The eligibility requirements for being vaccinated and the sites where the vaccine will be provided are determined by the State of New York. We will continue to share the information we receive from the State as we receive it. The State’s online tool and hotline will help you determine if you are eligible for a vaccine and if so, show nearby locations where the vaccine is being administered. It is your responsibility to then call the location and make an appointment to receive the vaccine or where possible, book one online. Not all designated vaccination sites are ready to schedule appointments yet as they have not received their vaccine allotment. The Governor has estimated it will take 14 weeks to vaccinate everyone who is currently eligible under Phase 1a and 1b. We have posted all of this information on the City website, cityofwhiteplains.com, and City social media pages and will keep you informed as we continue to receive information. You may access up-to-date COVID numbers for White Plains from our website as well. Just click the link “Active/Total Westchester County COVID-19 cases” at the top of the page. The vaccine rollout has begun, the end is in sight, but our journey is not complete. Please continue to wear your masks and follow the common sense protocols that have become second nature to us all. Remember we are standing together by staying apart.
