Why start a business in this town? White Plains is a great small city, centrally located throughout Westchester. There are a lot of businesses that we can help. I grew up in White Plains. I still live here, and it gives me great satisfaction that I am able to start a small family run business in the city that I love.
What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner? Brand Awareness. As an example, in the state of Florida there are 60 Batteries Plus Bulbs stores and it's like Dunkin' Donuts so a lot of people know about it. Here, we are the first and only one in the Hudson Valley region. We've been open since December 2012.

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening? There are many. For now, I have to give credit to our team. Usually, the hardest part of business besides the financial aspect are the lack of good employees/associates. I am proud of my team, they work hard and truly give 100 percent all the time. They believe in our system and how we operate. We maybe nationally backed but we are similar to a true mom and pop store where customer service is priority.
How does your business give back to the community? We've given back to a couple charities in the past such as the typhoon that struck the Philippines back in 2013 as well as donating some of our flashlights and batteries towards a Meals on Wheels of White Plains for our seniors who can use them if and when power goes out. As we continue to grow, we are going to find other ways to be part and involve in our community.
