Eleven-year-old Harshita M. Shet, a student at Richard J. Bailey School in White Plains, is competing this week in the 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee, according to organizers.

Harshita is sponsored by the Theodore D. Young Community Center in Greenburgh, which according to Town Supervisor Paul Feiner is the only school district in Westchester County to participate in the annual competition.

“Last year, Harshita Shet beat many other students from around the nation,” Feiner wrote in a statement. “Hopefully, in 2015 she’ll be the national champ!”
