White Plains To Vote On FASNY Application Monday
The controversial project has been in the works for years.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A vote by the White Plains Common Council is scheduled for Monday on a proposal to build a campus for the French-American School of New York at the old Ridgeway Country Club site. The scaled-down plan calls for a 29-acre campus for 640 sixth- to 12th-grade students.
To pass, the Common Council vote will need to be a supermajority, or five, of the seven members, lohud.com said.
Neighborhood groups have long opposed the plan, saying that it’s too big for the neighborhood.

The resolution on which the Common Council will be voting said it approves “the application submitted on behalf of the French-American School of New York requesting Special Permits for (1) a ‘Private Secondary School,’ with associated parking and athletic fields; and (2) accessory tennis court structures, and approving all other action necessary to implement the above approvals on property known as 336 Ridgeway.”
