The meet was a big success and Mayor Thomas Roach was there to cheer on all the swimmers.

"I'm thrilled to see this long-needed City swim team get off the ground. Our goal is to continue to build it into a well-regarded, well-run team that will not only provide an additional swim opportunity to our youth, but act as a feeder to the High School swim team as well”, commented Mayor Roach.

Commissioner Bass said, “The swim team came together as a result of our collaborative work together on the Jump in and Swim Program and the next step in the evolution of the program from introducing children to water safety and activities to skill development and competitive swimming. For most of our team, this was the first time that they had ever participated at a swim meet. The YMCA has provided the staff and coaching to help us bring a much needed and exceptional program to the residents of our city.”

Coach Ewuell added, “I am honored to have been asked to bring this opportunity to the residents of the city of White Plains. Swimming is a great sport that can open up many opportunities and the White Plains YMCA is an important community center. The White Plains Swim Team has really come together as a team and the athletes continue to learn the skills for competitive swimming. With dedication and a disciplined pursuit of excellence, these swimmers will achieve success in swimming and gain confidence and health to succeed in life.”
