WMC Earns LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Top Performer Recognition
Westchester Medical Center was one of less than 200 centers to receive national Top Performer recognition from the Human Rights Campaign.

VALHALLA, N.Y. (October, 2020) – For the second consecutive year, Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) has received LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Top Performer status in the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) 2020 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI).
According to HRC, more than 750 healthcare facilities actively participated in the 2020 HEI benchmark survey that “evaluates healthcare facilities' policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees.” Westchester Medical Center was one of less than 200 centers to receive national Top Performer recognition from the HRC*.
Facilities participating in the survey are assessed using a 100-point rating system covering non-discrimination and staff training; patient services and support; employee benefits and policies; and patient and community engagement.
