The Woman's Club of White Plains Announces Beneficiary for Fall Fund Raiser
The Woman's Club's annual Corks and Forks fundraiser is pleased to name El Centro Hispano as its beneficiary

The Woman’s Club of White Plains Foundation announced today that their annual fall fund raiser CORKS & FORKS will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the CV Rich Mansion in White Plains. This popular event features tastings of signature dishes from many local restaurants.
The Woman’s Club has been supporting philanthropic efforts in the White Plains community for nearly 100 years. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit EL CENTRO HISPANO, an integral part of White Plains for over 41 years, and other philanthropy projects sponsored by the Woman’s Club. Christine Roithmayr, Foundation President said, “We are pleased to support EL CENTRO HISPANO and their mission to assist the Hispanic community in their integration into American culture”.
El Centro Hispano currently offers 25 programs that are changing the lives of their clients through Education, Technology, Services, Cultural Events, Outreach, Counseling and Empowerment through Special activities. Programs include English as a second language, high school equivalency prep, computer classes, tutorial and mentoring programs, scholarships to graduating high school seniors, literacy support for their youngest clients, Girl and Boy Scout troops, educational and informational workshops, weekly food distribution, free legal and Affordable Care Program assistance, sponsorship of cultural events, translation services and assistance in finding housing and jobs. Isabel E. Villar, founder and Executive Director of EL CENTRO HISPANO, was “honored to be considered as this year’s recipient and is pleased that additional funding will be available to help with the many valuable programs the center has to offer. ” Together with the Board of Directors and El Centro’s staff, she is extremely grateful to the Woman’s Club of White Plains for their continued support, and feels privileged to have this partnership.
