Women’s Heart Health to be Celebrated at Girls’ Night Out

VALHALLA N.Y. (February 8, 2024) – Girls’ Night Out, an annual fundraiser for the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) Heart and Vascular Institute, will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel in Tarrytown, N.Y.

Girls’ Night Out will celebrate the triumphs of heart patients and recognize the physicians, nurses and other heart care professionals whose compassion and skill save lives.

The evening will feature heart hero models in a fashion show (with clothing courtesy of fashion designer Beverley Olivacce), a shopping boutique, a Macy’s beauty suite, an accessories wall, raffles, dinner, and dancing. Attendees are encouraged to wear red attire.

February is Heart Health Awareness Month. Heart disease remains the number one killer of women in the United States, causing 1 in 3 deaths or approximately one every minute.

Award-winning WCBS-TV news anchor Mary Calvi will emcee Girl’s Night Out.

The event will honor Elizabeth Bracken-Thompson, a partner with the public relations firm Thompson & Bender, who is also a Westchester Medical Center Foundation board member and former heart patient of WMCHealth. In 1992, Bracken-Thompson was diagnosed with heart failure and through skillful treatment at Westchester Medical Center she was able to avoid a heart transplant and now lives an active life.

“I am so thankful to Westchester Medical Center and the great medical care they offered me,” said Bracken-Thompson. “Without question, they saved my life.”

Building the Future of Critical Care in Westchester County

Proceeds from the event will benefit the WMCHealth Heart & Vascular Institute and new five-story Critical Care Tower currently under construction at Westchester Medical Center.

As research, science and technology progress to address challenges we face today and those yet to come, a new five-story Critical Care Tower is about to rise on the Westchester Medical Center campus. This state-of-the-art inpatient facility will be home to several advanced-care services, including a new advanced service cardiac unit with cardiac intensive care. The unit will be staffed by experts in heart care and will provide critical care for patients with complex and life-threatening cardiac illnesses and needs, such as heart transplantation, and advanced cardiac and cardiovascular surgery.
