Yonkers Barber Convicted On Charges That He Slashed A Customer With A Straight Razor: DA

A Yonkers barber was convicted of assault and weapons charges this week after prosecutors said he slashed a customer with a straight razor.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A Yonkers barber was convicted of assault and weapons charges this week after prosecutors said he slashed a man who was seated in the barbershop he worked at.

According to prosecutors, a jury found 38-year-old Jeury Fernandez Navarro guilty of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon Tuesday. Navarro faces up to seven years in prison and is due back in court for sentencing Sept. 24, prosecutors said.

“A Westchester County jury heard the evidence, understood the brutality of this attack, and held the defendant accountable,” Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace said. “This was a brazen and vicious attack inside a local business, and there is absolutely no place for this kind of violence in Westchester. This verdict reinforces that those who endanger our communities will answer for their violent conduct.”

According to prosecutors, Navarro was in the South Broadway barbershop that he worked at about 3:21 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2025 when he grabbed a man who was seated in a nearby barbers chair by the hair and held a straight razor up to his body. After a brief struggle broke out, prosecutors said Navarro swung the razor at the man and slashed him across the arm.

Navarro then kept holding the man by the hair as the two left the shop, and had to be pulled away by a Yonkers police officer, prosecutors said.

The man Navarro was accused of slashing was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and treated for a deep laceration to his left forearm that required surgery, prosecutors said.
