BROOKLYN, NY — An 18-wheeler truck carrying beer collided with another car in East Williamsburg before smashing into a Popeyes restaurant Wednesday evening, police said.

A Coors Light semi-truck and a sedan collided near the intersection of Metropolitan and Vandervoort Avenues shortly after 7 p.m. The truck involved continued driving forward until it collided with the building, authorities said.

The truck driver, a 60-year-old man, complained of a head injury and was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, an NYPD spokesperson said Thursday morning.

Authorities stated that the driver of the sedan, a 21-year-old man, received treatment at the scene, while a woman inside the restaurant was treated for shock.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation into the crash is currently underway, police said.

Police reported that the FDNY and Department of Buildings were called to assess the building's structural integrity and ensure it did not sustain any damage as a result of the crash.

As of Thursday morning, Google Maps indicates that the Popeyes remains temporarily closed.
