66Pct "Operation Identification," Nov. 23: The Way to Safeguard your Electronic Goods

As part of its neighborhood theft prevention effort, the NYPD 66th precinct encourages you to register your computer, lap tops, iPods, cell phones, or any other electronic devices with its “Operation Identification” program to be offered Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Astoria Federal Savings Bank from 10 am to 4 pm. The bank is located at the corner of McDonald and Church avenues at 101 Church.

To safeguard your property, the precinct will assign your equipment a “registered and recorded” serial number which can be used to track and recover lost or stolen goods, or to arrest anyone found in possession of your electronic stuff.

For more information, please call (718) 435–4300 or Police Officer Vaughan, the 66th’s Crime Prevention Officer, at (718) 851–5620. “Operation Identification” is a joint project of Astoria Federal Savings Bank and the 66th Precinct, D.I. John Sprague, commanding officer.
