78th PRECINCT YOUTH COUNCIL'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP DAY
For the fifth consecutive year, the 78th Precinct Youth Council will hold its Basketball Championship Day at Bishop Ford High School, 500 19th St. in Windsor Terrace. This year's event will take place on Sunday, March 27, from 9am-6pm.
Championship games will be held for all five intramural divisions: Freshman (9-10 year olds, coed), Sophomores (11-12 year olds, coed), Juniors (13-14 year olds, coed), Seniors (15-16 year olds, coed), JV (10-12 year olds, girls). During half-time of each game, the clinic players (5-8 year olds, coed and 7-9 year olds, girls) will perform skills exhibitions. There will also be a special Coaches Game, providing the players a chance to see their coaches in action.
The annual event promises exciting fun for all ages, featuring the best players from each division. Coffee and snacks will be available. The suggested donation is $3.00 for adults; children are free.
78th PRECINCT YOUTH COUNCIL'S BASEBALL OPENING DAY
Brooklyn residents are urged to come out and cheer on the borough's youngest baseball players during the 78th Precinct Youth Council's Opening Day festivities on April 2nd in Washington Park in Park Slope, from 10am – 3pm.
The day-long event features an estimated 450 five, six, and seven year old coed players, honing their batting, fielding, and throwing skills with coaching from older players from the well-known Brooklyn Bulldogs. About five teams an hour will take to the field and the sessions are open to parents and residents. More than 1,000 parents are expected to attend over the course of the event.
The festivities will include face-painting from 11am - 2pm and an appearance by Sandy the Seagull, the mascot of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
