Another Sexual Assault Just Before the New Year

A 23-year-old woman who was walking with a man down 4th Avenue near 19th Street at about 1:30am on December 31 when police say a man touched her buttocks and ran off.

The suspect is described as about 25 years old, Hispanic, weighing between 150 and 175 pounds, and wearing a black jeans and a black hooded jacket.

Police tell the Brooklyn Paper that “it appears to be an isolated incident,” so it may not be related to the string of attacks that took place in the area beginning in March but seemed to stop in October.

This attack is, of course, no more upsetting than the others, but it's strange because the woman was walking with someone. Still, remember that you can reach out to volunteer organizations for an escort if you're going to be out by yourself, depending on your location and time: Safe Walk, RightRides, Brooklyn Bike Patrol, and K9WaTch.
